Investment Accounting Consultant

Our client, a large insurance company, seeks a heavily experienced accounting professional/manager/controller fill interim roles within client's investment accounting department. Contract-to-hire is not expected, but may be possible for the right consultant. The scope of this job is accounting, reporting and analysis for the investment instruments with a primary focus on GAAP reporting. The individual will be responsible for: 1. Various GAAP month end close responsibilities including posting journal entries and account analysis. Team responsibilities include GAAP, Deferred Gain/Loss, FAS115 and various other items. 2. Prepare, review, and analyze various reports for internal and external customers. This includes among other things, the preparation of the Balance Sheet, Flash/Trend reports, and monthly investment position reports. 3. Prepare quarterly and year-end GAAP schedules and financial statements that are utilized in the preparation of the 10-K, 10-Q, and Investors Supplement. 4. Assist with the review of the investment information in the MD&A and Footnotes. All applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be authorized to work in the United States. Qualifications :
Requirements: - 5+ years of professional Accounting experience with investments and GAAP focus. - Experience in GAAP and FASB 115 accounting treatment for investment activities - Advanced Excel skills, Access, Outlook, Word, SAP or other general ledger applications - Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance - CPA is a plus - Supervisor/Manager/Controller experience is a plus but not required Hourly compensation based on experience....benefits Available!!
