LAS Consolidations Manager

Purpose

This position is responsible for managing the close process and preparing financial statements for the Life and Analytical Sciences (LAS) business unit.  This position is a key link between the site controllers in the field and the Business Unit CFO, and provides the Corporate Controller with visibility into accounting issues affecting the business unit.

 Key Responsibilities

? Supervise the monthly submission process into Hyperion from approximately 50 operating sites.  Review and analyze results as they are submitted.  Question site controllers about monthly results and unusual trends or items, and ensure all issues are resolved.

? Provide accounting guidance to site controllers as well to the Business Unit CFO.  Coordinate and direct accounting for complex transactions.  Develop accounting procedures and processes for the Business Unit.

? Manage quarterly site balance sheet reviews, the purpose of which is to gather and resolve accounting issues during each quarter.  Work with the Corporate Controller during the reviews to analyze site results and question site controllers.  Manage the resolution of all issues identified during the reviews.

? Supervise the LAS Consolidations accountant, who?s responsibilities include account reconciliations, including equity and intercompany accounts, booking SBU-level reserves and adjustments, generating reports, and coordinating the resolution of intercompany discrepancies and entries involving multiple sites.

? Perform other duties of similar complexity as directed.  This position is a part of PerkinElmer?s corporate accounting group, so additional duties could include, but are not limited to, consolidations of other businesses within the PerkinElmer, Inc. portfolio, tasks related to corporate accounting and external reporting, and special projects. Critical Success Factors 

 

? Technical Skills: Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance with 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience including consolidations.  Experience with Hyperion or equivalent consolidation and reporting software.  Strong understanding of US GAAP, foreign currency, intercompany transactions, and accounting issues pertinent to a manufacturing environment, such as cost accounting.  CPA preferred.

?  Communication Skills:  This position requires frequent communications with Operating Site Controllers, the Corporate Controller, and the Business Unit CFO and his staff.  Effective verbal and written communication, and the ability to translate technical decisions/strategies into business terms and implications is of key importance.

?  Management of Resources:  Allocates time and resources efficiently, focusing on ever-shifting priorities; continually seeks way to improve individual/team efficiency.  Demonstrates ability to be effective within a matrix environment.  Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and take ownership of projects, performing job requirements with minimal oversight and attention to detail.
