The perfect team member has obtained a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Inventory Management with a couple of years experience accounting for the movement of inventory or cost accounting in a high volume manufacturing environment, superior arithmetic skills including conversion factors, ratios, percentages, and statistical analysis,  an exceptional ?can-do? attitude, no fear of computers or paperwork, the ability to work extensively in Excel, Outlook, and Word, the desire to learn new things, and an outstanding personality.

Our Logistics Accountant will ensure proper control over and accounting for all inventory assets for the company, and will maintain proper procedures and internal controls necessary to safeguard company inventory assets. In addition, he/she will work closely with various departments in an effort to help ensure the availability of raw and finished goods inventory within a ?Just in Time? philosophy to meet production and customer order requirements without unnecessary build up of associated inventory levels. 

 

Essential Functions of the Logistics Accountant Position:

 

1.  Gather all production job batch sheets and finished goods pallet slips for processing in Syteline relieving WIP for all completed jobs.  Review all items remaining in WIP on a weekly basis and investigate indicated problems ? i.e. closed jobs not clearing out of WIP.

 

2.  Process all customer pick tickets relieving finished goods inventory assuring accuracy of all lots and locations as well as quantities shipped as notated on source documents. 

 

3.  Prepare weekly analytical review of all variances from established standards related to materials, labor and overhead.  Summarize, by job, all indicated variances from standard materials, standard labor and standard overhead and distribute to Plant Operations Manager.

 

4.  Perform inventory cycle counts with respect to raw materials and finished goods inventories to help ensure integrity of system counts.

 

5.  Communicate timely with MRP team members or departments on any inventory quantity issues affecting the MRP process and the availability of raw materials and finished goods inventory to meet production and forecasted sales requirements. 

 

6.  Maintain accurate inventory levels of off-site inventory.

 

7.  In conjunction with the Controller and Senior Management, make indicated changes to materials, labor and overhead standards associated with Finished Goods items.

 

8.  Assist other areas of accounting, production, or other departments during periods of down time, slack time, or upon early completion of tasks.

 

9.  Work with associates in team effort to further company goals concerning productivity, safety and quality.

Other Responsibilities:

 

1.  Provide back up support to Accounts Payable associate in absence or illness.

 

2.  Complete, in a timely manner, all cost studies related to the cost section for New Product Packets or changes to existing Bills of Materials.  Set up new items in the system and their related Bills of Materials. Roll current costs to Standard costs for any new Products/Bills of Materials.

 

3.  Plan, staff and conduct annual physical inventory according to procedures. Make all necessary adjustments in Syteline to bring system counts into agreement with physical counts. Investigate any significant variances between physical counts and system counts. Determine and report to management the financial impact of all adjustments made to inventory system counts.

 

4.  Record any movement of inventory items issued or received on a miscellaneous basis such as product pulled or received by promo, cycle count adjustments, etc.

 

5.  Produce month end reports on inventory position for the financial package.

 

6.  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Critical Performance Criteria:

 

Integrity of Inventory Levels ? The accuracy of inventory levels reflected in the accounting system is a key element in the company?s goal to produce goods in sufficient quantities and in a timely manner to fill all customer orders. Accurate inventory levels are also key to the successful MRP process and the goal of achieving a ?just in time? inventory position without committing excessive company capital to inventory carrying costs.

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

 

1.  Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Inventory Management with a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experience accounting for the movement of inventory or cost accounting in a high volume manufacturing environment.  In lieu of degree, may accept high school graduate with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in accounting for the movement of inventory or cost accounting in a high volume manufacturing environment.

 

2.  Able to use intermediate arithmetic skills including the ability to understand and apply conversion factors, ratios, percentages, and statistical analysis.

 

3.  Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.

 

4.  Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.

 

5.  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; able to use keyboard and type 35-40 wpm.

 

6.  Able to lift 40 pounds up to 40 inches from the floor

 

7.  Able to climb stairs.
