In this fast-paced position, you'll manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions for the Clerk and Comptroller of Palm Beach County's $3.9 billion annual budget. This includes providing technical accounting support and recording all Board of County Commissioner transactions in accordance with GAAP, regulatory standards and County policies. You'll also be expected to prepare financial statements and special purpose reports, as well as take on the following responsibilities:



? Developing, reviewing, recommending and implementing accounting policies and procedures for the Board of County Commissioners; plans, coordinates and implements the annual closing of the Board's accounting records and the annual county wide audit.



? Preparing the County's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), Annual Financial Report (AFR), Annual Financial Audit Report (AFAR) and various special reports, as required.



? Leading the day-to-day operations of the department including staffing, performance management, and training and development activities for staff.



? Planning and supervising daily operations and work flow and monitoring performance for adherence to established goals and objectives.



? Monitoring the County's financial systems to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the financial accounting transactions and data.



? Reviewing and coordinating the accounting and movement of funds for all Board of County Commissioners to ensure compliance with bond indenture resolutions, Treasury Regulations, and ensuring accurate payment of debt service for those bond issues.



Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field; MBA / Master's Degree in related field preferred; supplemented by eight (8) years progressively responsible financial reporting and governmental accounting that provides broad knowledge of public finance administration, automated financial systems and regulatory standards regarding the administration and accounting of public funds; five (5) of which must have been at the supervisory level. Requires current certification as a CPA.



The candidate must be capable of leading a team to achieve business results. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, and have a solid understanding of the governmental environment. Unquestioned ethics and a leader who leads by example will be characteristics of the selected candidate.
