Manager, Financial Accounting

POSITION PURPOSE:


The Financial Accounting Manager will provide: thought leadership and technical consultation and research to ensure that the Company has considered all relevant technical requirements to enable the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP); contributing to a strong system of internal controls through providing best practices in internal controls and accounting policies; conducting meetings with business unit financial management teams to understand financial results on a monthly basis and summarize and communicate enterprise results to senior corporate management, including the Corporate CFO; preparing quarterly Audit Committee materials for Corporate CFO. This is a high-profile position that will have exposure to the top leadership of the Company.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

GAAP Compliance.
Internal controls. The Manager will work with division finance associates, internal auditors and the external auditors to steward an effective internal control environment.
Coordinate the work of specialists and monitoring of IBNR reserve policy.
Projects & other. The Manager will identify and when needed be assigned to specific finance department projects including those covering corporate governance, acquisition accounting, lease evaluations (capital vs. operating) and process re-design. The role on these projects will vary and may include tasks such as research, data gathering, modeling and other analysis.
Preparing loan covenant compliance reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Solid technical accounting and auditing experience with a large public accounting firm.
Strong project management skills, the ability to keep several initiatives in process simultaneously and work effectively with senior management, division associates and outside third parties.
Ability to work well in pressure situations and be a thought leader in their areas of responsibility.
5-7 years of recent experience to include a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience serving large organizations ($1.0 billion + in sales).
Strong technical knowledge (GAAP, GAAS, COSO).
Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley.
Ability to work independently, remain objective and establish strong credibility.
Experience developing and/or reviewing accounting policies and procedures.
Experience preparing presentations suitable for senior management and the audit committee.
Ability to identify and articulate control weaknesses and persuasively present solutions.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
