Manager, State Surveys

 

Join Assurant Health's financial department and lead the coordination and execution of activities related to state surveys and other data requests.We need you to establish policies and practices, ensure accuracy of information prior to disclosure and verify that appropriate reports and records are maintained.  You will track, prioritize, and monitor all requests to ensure all responses are submitted by deadlines.  You will monitor the progress of all data collection, and review and approve all completed requests before submission to requestor as well as coordinate the initial development and implementation of centralized area to manage survey and data requests coming into the organization from various state regulatory agencies.

 

Your skills will cultivate relationships with internal departments that are essential to the data collection process and create internal communication plans designed to introduce the centralized data collection function.We will need you to develop on-going relationship with state regulatory agencies to facilitate and manage the current the data submission process and coordinate future requests/responses.  You will also lead system development and process improvement efforts to eliminate, consolidate, and automate processes where possible to increase efficiency and reduce multiple touch-points. 

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a regulatory and/or compliance area. (Ideally with an insurance company or a state regulatory agency, but not required)Financial services experience in the insurance industry is desirable (familiarity with GAAP accounting, statutory insurance accounting, and P&L statements desireable)Requires competency in data analysis and able to instruct others in this area.Requires excellent oral and written communication ability to effectively communicate with state agencies.Requires strong planning and project management skills to develop and execute plans and strategies.Requires organization and time-management skills to pursue and complete multiple simultaneous priorities under deadline pressure.Requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and coach a variety of resources to create urgency, precision, and solid progress for data collection processes without the benefit of direct reporting relationships.Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field or equivalent work experience.  It is desirable for the incumbent to have attained LOMA, HIAA, FLMI, or PMI certification. Requires thorough knowledge of insurance accounting practices, financial operations and data warehouse, query and mainframe systems.Requires strong knowledge of regulations relating to market conduct in the health insurance industry.
