Manager - Subsidiary Accounting

This position is responsible for analyzing and overseeing the financial reporting generated by those Sears Holdings Corporation subsidiaries which perform stand alone accounting functions. This involves reviewing and analyzing the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting for subsidiaries of Sears Holdings Corporation, a company with over $50 billion in revenue. Focus is on understanding accounting and reporting implications for significant, complex or uncommon transactions, as well as ensuring proper reporting of such subsidiaries financial results into the Company's consolidated financial statements.

This individual will work closely with the Director of External Reporting and Assistant Controller as well as other Corporate accounting/finance functions (e.g. Corporate Planning, Treasury, Business Development), and business finance functions within businesses.

Qualifications
40% Corporate Accounting - Responsible for reviewing reconciliations, journal entries and account
management for income statement and balance sheet accounts maintained by the subsidiaries. Ensure that the accounts roll into the correct consolidated accounts. Provide technical accounting counsel and support to the subsidiaries. Assist with SOX compliance matters as it relates to the subsidiaries and facilitation of the external audit.

30% Monthly Reporting Package and Interface with Business Personnel - Assist in the completion of the monthly reporting package. Interface with business personnel to resolve accounting issues that arise and liaise with corporate planning regarding accounting impacts and the affect on plan and forecasted amounts.

15% Presentation and Analysis - Prepare materials for various management presentations.

15% Special Projects - Assist in the completion of various special projects and provide counsel to business units and corporate personnel on potential transactions and the affects on external reporting.

Scope of the job:
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Sears Holdings'subsidiaries financial statements. Works closely with the consolidations group, business unit finance, treasury, tax, and legal. Participates in how business decisions will be accounted for in the consolidated financial statements.


Requirements:
- Position requires extensive accounting and financial reporting knowledge and experience.
- Must be current with respect to knowledge of accounting and reporting issues (FASB, EITF, SEC, etc.).
- Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to understand complex accounting rules as well as business structures and transactions.
- A high level of communication skills (oral and written) is necessary to communicate complex accounting issues to non-accounting personnel in an understandable, efficient manner.
- CPA required.
