Manager, Tax

Summary:Manage the entire tax accounting function (FAS 109) and accompanying SEC reporting.File all federal and state income and franchise tax extensions and estimated payments.Handle the filing of gross receipts tax returns, sales tax returns, annual reports and other miscellaneous tax return filings.Provide support to management and other departments (payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, human resources, etc.) on tax related issues. Act as liaison with Deloitte & Touche and other outside agencies for all tax return processing, provision review, and all other tax matters.Maintain tax calendar and provide tax research as required.Maintain and provide documentation for tax department SOX compliance.Responsible for all federal and state tax workpapers required to file the federal consolidated return (form 1120) and various state income and franchise tax returns.

 Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree required; Accounting or Finance major is preferred, or equivalent.8-10+ years in the tax area of a public accounting firm and corporate tax department, with an emphasis on tax compliance and related reporting responsibilities and processes (i.e., preparation and/or review of federal and state tax returns, GAAP and Stat tax provisions, financial statement footnotes).

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:Experience with multi-state sales tax processing.Experience with tax software. Proficiency with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel to perform computation and manipulate data.Ability to perform research using on-line, word-search resources. Excellent verbal & written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
