Requirements

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for a Manager, US GAAP Policies at the corporate headquarters located in Akron, Ohio.

Goodyear is North America's largest tire company, manufacturing and marketing tires for most applications. Summary
Update and maintain worldwide accounting policies and procedures to support the integrity of financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP. Disseminate knowledge of US GAAP throughout the organization by conducting training and education activities. Carry out special projects as assigned.

Duties
1. Develop, update and maintain official financial policies and procedures in order to assure the compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory authorities. Exercise excellent professional judgment in achieving the appropriate balance between theoretical accounting principles and their practical application.

2. Develop and conduct the necessary training to disseminate US GAAP content knowledge to appropriate levels within the Company; serve as an educational resource by acting as the clearinghouse for the US GAAP curriculum; provide training services to meet specific identified financial training needs.

3. Provide guidance and consultation within the Company and serve as an authority on acceptable and appropriate accounting principles for actual and proposed transactions; maintain a continual supportive dialog with SBU controllers' organizations and other corporate functions concerning accounting and reporting issues.

4. Monitor current developments and actions of standard setting bodies in areas of accounting, reporting and regulatory principles and practices. Assess and communicate the impact of proposed standards on the Company's present practices.

5. Special Projects - Analyze (probe beyond the numbers for explanations), present and interpret relevant financial data to management; make appropriate recommendations.

Professional Qualifications

At least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a CPA designation is required.

A well regarded seasoned professional with at least seven (7) years experience in broad-based financial management in a corporate or public accounting environment, an orientation towards action and a deep understanding of financial accounting under US GAAP.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Sufficient presence and interpersonal skills to develop and grow relationships on a variety of levels and functions.
