Manager, US General Accounting

Manager, U.S General Accounting PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plans, organizes, and supervises the activities for the general accounting group and project based accounting of the Professional Services Organization (PSO). Manages the monthly general ledger and fixed asset close process for US operations. Reviews and approves journal entries and account reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages the day-to-day US General Ledger and Professional Services Organization project accounting functions. High emphasis is placed on the monthly close process by adhering to the published US closing calendar. Reviews account reconciliations and journal entries in accordance with monthly close calendar and GAAP requirements.

2. Initiates, reviews and implements process improvements to the daily operational workflow and the monthly close process in order to reduce the time needed to close while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the underlying accounting records.

3. Directs the analysis of monthly expense fluctuations and variance analysis and provides detailed explanations of identified items in accordance with current Company policy.

4. Ensures ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 corporate internal control policies and procedures.

5. Works with internal and external auditors during reviews and audits to ensure full cooperation from accounting staff and compliance with all qualified requests.

6. Interacts in a positive manner with functional peer groups in order to gain cooperation of and influence over others in order to meet organizational and company objectives.

7. Attracts, hires, retains, organizes, develops, manages, recognizes, and rewards a motivated workforce capable of achieving short- and long-range business objectives within company policies and procedures.

8. Ensures appropriate systems, policies, budgets, controls, and procedures are in place to support sound, legal practices in support of the strategic direction of the business.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

4-year college education with an emphasis in accounting. A CPA is preferred.

Experience:

Requires an additional 4-5 years of experience working in high growth, corporate environment managing all GL activities. Proven track record of implementation of best practice policies and procedures.

Technical Knowledge:

Excellent working knowledge and application of GAAP and project based accounting. Prior experience using Oracle Financials software is a plus.

Proven management skills and the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of professionals capable of achieving aggressive business goals and objectives.

Other Requirements:

Travel up to 10%.
