The Manager of Finance is a financial resource to all levels of management and physicians to support effective decision making, operations and revenue cycle improvement. This position will also provide financial information and prepare analyses in support of organizational objectives, cost management activities, benchmarking and operations analysis, business development, clinical program evaluation, care management activities including protocol development and physician practice patterns. Support revenue cycle improvement and reporting. This position is based in Chicago and will report to the Director of Finance.
ResponsibilitiesManage the development of all analyses, benchmarking studies and other reportsIdentify the need for and develop routine and special management reports and reporting tools to support ongoing operations and management decision-makingPrepare the most challenging and complex analyses and direct the development of other analyses by department staff Feasibility studies and other analyses to support capital purchasesBenchmarking and other analyses to support operational improvementCare management activities including analyses to support protocol development, quality improvement efforts and physician profiling/resource utilization analysesRevenue cycle analyses and reportsReimbursement analysis, including verification of payment according to contract terms, and the reimbursement impact of various business decisionsService line or specific service cost and profitability analyses, which may include identifying opportunities for improvementIdentify the appropriate data sources, work with and interpret data correctly, and build relevant and appropriate financial models to address organization decision making and information needsServe as a quality control checkpoint for all analyses prepared by the department by providing proper direction and reviewing the work of staff analystsHelp insure proper conclusions and decisions are made by making sure all analyses and reports are based on reasonable assumptions, use data appropriately, clearly present, and have appropriate controls and check totals to help insure data integrityManage resources to organizational teams and department managers for operational analysesWork with all levels of management to understand their needs, gather data and report resultsTrain department management personnel on interpretation and use of financial information
QualificationsExcellent analytical skills, including ability to review quantitative and qualitative data and reach sound conclusionsExcellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office Suite, cost accounting system (TSI), general ledger (Lawson), patient accounting (Allegra), and financial analysis & reporting systemsSolid understanding of physician practice operations and revenue cycleGood communication skills, including formal presentation and business writingWorking knowledge of hospital reimbursement principlesGood supervisory, project management, and time management skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate at all levels within the organization Familiar with GL and patient accounting systems generally
Requirements10 years in health care accounting or finance, with experience in above areasMBA or MHA preferred7 years accounting/finance experience, 3 in healthcare2 years supervisory experienceBA or BS in Accounting, Finance or BusinessLicense, CPA CPA or CMA preferredThis position will have 3 direct reports; Senior Operations Analyst, Senior Revenue Cycle Analyst and Cash Control Assistant
