The Manager of Retirement Plans Financing is responsible for managing the day-to-day financing and cash flow requirements of the following retirement plans and long-term disability trust structures:  Defined benefit plan, defined contribution/ profit sharing plan, and the long-term disability Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA) trust.  Currently, the total market value of investment assets contained in these trusts is approximately $2.8 billion. In addition, the Manager is responsible for monitoring the investment performance of various third-party portfolio managers and working with an external pension consultant to identify new portfolio managers for consideration by the Pension Investment Committee (PIC). The Manager will serve as the Secretary of the PIC.  The Manager will also liaise with the trustee, trust administrators, actuaries, human resource benefits department, and legal counsel. Furthermore, the Manager of Retirement Plans Financing will report directly to the Senior Vice President & Corporate Treasurer. Essential responsibilities include:
o Cash Flow Requirements: Manage the daily cash flow requirements of the various retirement plans and VEBA trusts. This includes instructing the trustee to liquidate investments and raise cash to meet expected benefit payments.  Also, coordinate plan contributions with the payroll department and other members of the treasury department. o Investment & Funding Infrastructure: Manage, coordinate and monitor the entire investment and funding infrastructure of the retirement plans. This includes coordinating the signing and updating of required documentation (i.e., investment agreements) and the monitoring of all related fees. o Investment Performance: Monitor both short-term and long-term investment performance of the third-party portfolio managers versus the corresponding benchmark.  Along with the external pension consultant, meet with portfolio managers on a periodic basis to review portfolio holdings to identify reasons for either out or under performance versus the benchmark. o Reporting: On a quarterly basis, prepare investment performance summaries and listing of plan assets for the Board of Directors. Also, prepare detailed quarterly investment performance review book to be distributed to the Pension Investment Committee.  This book also contains reports which include the allocation of expenses (legal, actuary, trustee, investment management fees) to the various retirement plans. o Investment Policy: Periodically review the investment policy document approved by the Pension Investment Committee and update if required. Ensure compliance with investment policy and that the allocation of investments among the various asset classes is proper (i.e., fixed income, passive equity, growth/value, capitalization sector, international, and emerging markets). o With the pension consultant, plan the PIC’s annual investment meetings and review with the portfolio managers. o With the pension consultant, research and identify a “bench” of portfolio managers for each particular investment strategy. o Supervise a part-time administrative assistant. o Assist the Treasurer in planning periodic meetings of the Pension Investment Committee

o MBA with concentration in finance
o Undergraduate degree in either: Finance, accounting, economics, math or engineering
o Experience: 2 to 5 years in either treasury and/or investment industry
o Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
o Competent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
