Merchandising Planner

FRED'S, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Merchandise Planner in our Corporate Offices located in Memphis, TN.  This is a newly created position that will use planning tools and corporate open-to-buy information to manage a specified category of business. 

This individual will effectively communicate and partner with the appropriate Buyer, Rebuyer and Allocation Analyst on intial planning, re-forecasting and purchasing decisions to maximize sales and profit.

This individual is responsible for developing annual financial merchandise plans for sales, inventory, markdowns andprofit down to the category level.  They will determine the category assortment guidelines and flow of merchandise based on open-to-buy needs and supply chain directives.  They will support the Buyers with assortment plans and ladder plans for all items specifically for new and seasonal items.  Determine the assortment plan based on current sales revenue trens, historical revenue, inventory levels and store/DC capacity.

This candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Buiness/Finance/Accounting or Merchandising alowng with 5-7 years experience in general merchandise retail buying or planning environment.

Preferred knowledge of merchandise planning methodologies in a softline environment, as well as, PC knowledge to include strong Excel capabilities with Arthur, Planalytics, Manugistics, is preferred.  This is a very fast paced position that requires this individual to  have strong analytical and detailed orientated knowledge of retail math.
