Non-Profit Assistant Financial Controller

As the Assistant Financial Controller you will become part of a prominent and established non-profit organization that works closely with some of the largest companies both in the United States and abroad.  This is a full-time, salaried position located in Boston with an excellent benefits package.

 

Essential ResponsibilitiesParticipates in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures for the Finance Department as well as the company as a whole.Assists CFO with the overall management of the Company?s accounting and financial reporting requirements.

 

Accounting ResponsibilitiesPrepares Monthly and Annual Financial Statements including the balance sheets, P&L and cash flows all in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Supervises and assists with property accounting, cost accounting and fixed asset accounting.Reviews, analyzes and verifies various business transactions including all revenues and expenses.Reviews and approves journal entries and bank reconciliations.Reconciles general ledger accounts including sub-ledgers Provides extensive support with Annual Financial Audits.Participates in the preparation of budgets, reviews of budget proposals, as well as the preparation of necessary supporting documentation and justification.Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate(s). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned employees.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, we are ideally looking for an individual that has worked within a non-profit environment and preferably has held a managerial position.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university and one to two years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Interpretation Skills
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) A proficiency in Great Plains is preferred.Must have strong organizational skills.
