This well established, international nonprofit seeks an experienced and motivated individual for their Grants and International Accounting department.This is a great opportunity to use all the knowledge you have gained about grant proposals, tracking and monitoring grant expenditures and reporting on grant compliance.  Our client provides comprehensive health insurance, short-term and long-term disability, generous vacation and holidays and a 403b plan. JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Professional, experienced, motivated, confident Grants Accountant.  Candidate must be a self-starter, organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and be able to work within a changing environment. 

 

The Grants Accountant is an integral member of the International Accounting Department. The Accountant is responsible for analyzing and monitoring the financial status and contractual compliance of the projects he/she is assigned as well as preparing all the required U.S. government financial reports for those projects. In addition, the candidate will assist the Grants Manager to ensure financial compliance with federal and organizational regulations of the financial portion of grants administration (as they relate to the Eurasia, Central and West Africa, and Southern and East Africa teams) by performing the following duties:

 

?  Reviews proposal budgets, revisions, new grant agreements, and modifications for compliance with funder regulations and policies.

?  Maintains grant binders and other official grant documents.

?  Maintains the proposal log that provides the status of proposals in development, proposals submitted to funders and proposals that have been issued or canceled.

?  Reviews journal entries for accuracy and compliance and funder regulations.

?  Reviews monthly job cost reports and assists program staff with over-budget and other financial issues; communicates with Regional program staff on an on-going basis regarding financial issues.

?  Provides training, when needed, on various grant administration matters such as budgeting and analyzing/understanding job cost reports.

?  Coordinates with Subgrants, General Accounting and International Accounting divisions as necessary.

?  Communicates with funders as necessary.

?  Assists in the preparation and review of audit schedules as assigned.

?  Assists in the preparation of Board reports.

?  Prepares written materials for the intranet.

?  Attends proposal review meetings.

 



REQUIREMENTS:

 Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.

Experience applying OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133 preferred

Proficient using both Microsoft Excel and Word.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
