SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Accounts and the Supervisor the incumbent will maintain current knowledge of hospital policy and procedures for effective and accurate patient and third party billing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform a variety of billing and collection functions as assigned. Ensure claims are billed and re-billed in a timely and appropriate manner so that proper payment is received. Re-submit rejected claims and follow up with third party payers. Identify and prepare adjustments for Supervisor. Communicate with Supervisor regarding issues related to accuracy of billing and maximization of reimbursement. Provide customer service to patients as well as hospital departments. Assist Supervisor and Sr. Billing Coordinator as required. Other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor. EXPERIENCE At least one-year third party billing experience in health care or related environment. MassHealth experience required. Knowledge of excel, word and MS4 a plus. QUALIFICATIONS High School or equivalent experience. Must be a detailed and motivated individual who can work well in a team environment as well as independently with limited supervision. Ability to successfully prioritize.
