Payables Accountant

Must have attention to detail and good organizational skills.
A strong customer focus is required; this position includes frequent interaction with associates at all levels of the organization and external Sonic customers.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential; strong interpersonal and problem solving skills are necessary.
Should be self-motivated and directed with the ability to work independently or within a cross functional team in a fast paced environment.
Must have good analytical skills.
Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office, database and query software.

 

Key Tasks include but are not limited to:
Provide customer service to internal and external customers regarding store accounting.
Review invoices received through the EDI process for majority owned stores, reconcile the vendor aged reports associated with EDI and provide ACH remittance information to EDI vendors.
Analyze EDI information from vendors to verify any miscoded items or deviations from set standards.
Perform statistical research to identify vendors to contact regarding EDI.
Prepare 1099 tax forms each calendar year and assist with other 1099 functions.
Review daily sales information to identify cash paid outs reportable on a 1099.
Research duplicate invoices processed in the payables system.
Research any aging credit invoices and due dates in the payables system.
Research any returned checks received.
Perform SOX 404 testing and auditing of department processes.
Prepare the Work in Progress notes for all SRI stores.
Perform the month end food cost and P&L reviews.
Other job duties may be assigned as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications for Job: BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field of study is required.  Previous experience in Accounts Payable preferred.  The qualified candidate must also have the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.  Flexibility with work schedule is necessary as weekend and overtime work are sometimes required.
