Payroll Manager/Supervisor

We are presently seeking a Payroll Manager and Supervisor to work in our Houston location.

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

? Maintain payroll information by directing and processing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.  Coordinate various activities related to the processing of the semimonthly payroll.

? Receive, audit and verify payroll information.

? Payroll input into ADP system.

? Verification and audit of exception pay, taxable benefits and voluntary deduction items.

? Update direct deposit accounts and other employee changes as necessary.

? Update payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance premiums, savings deductions, job titles, and department transfers.

? Setup, process and remit involuntary deductions in accordance with local/statutory rules.

? Provide payroll information by communicating with employees to resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and accurately.

? Work with Human Resources department on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of employee data.

? Determine payroll liabilities by reviewing the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer?s social security, unemployment and workers compensation payments.

? Distribute payroll checks to client sites

? Process manual checks/deposits, off-cycle payroll runs and retroactive payments, processing electronic transfers to various accounts.

? Monitor ADP invoices for accuracy

? Complete downloads from ADP and prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, personal time off and nontaxable wages.

? Distribute payments and notifications to employees.

? Work with the Human Resources Department to coordinate and input data on all new hires and terminations

? Reconcile payroll sub-ledgers to general ledgers

? Research and work with tax service company on tax inquiries, W-2's,,1099's, etc.

? Comply with Federal, State and Local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising the Controller on any required actions.

? Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.

? Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information, as requested.

? Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

? Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.

 

Other Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred

 

Experience/Attributes:5-7 years relevant accounting experience. Extensive knowledge of payroll process, including regular payroll, special pays, commission pays and bonus pays. Knowledge of ADP PC Payroll or ADP PayExpert payroll. Ability to produce, verify and administer standard and ad-hoc payroll reports.
