Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing and auditing the payroll process from beginning to end, including ensuring that taxes are properly paid and the payroll system is up-to-date.
Qualifications
2-5 years experience processing payrollADP experience; Ultipro experience a plusExperience at least 1 time converting from one payroll system to anotherGood knowledge of multi-jurisdictional tax lawsAccounting knowledge with experience posting to G/LStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong analysis and problems solving skillsExperience creating and running various HR and payroll reports out of database system (ReportSmith, Cognos, Crystal)
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Payroll ProcessingAudit payroll information entered into payroll system by HR department, checking for proper authorizations, input, etc.Make one-off adjustments to payroll that cannot be entered into the system by HR.Process and maintain records for paycards.Handle commission reconciliation and calculation once those responsibilities are transferred to payroll.
Systems and ProcessesDevelop new policies and procedures to improve the efficiencies within payroll administration, including writing detailed payroll procedures sufficient for audit purposes and providing written proposals that can be submitted to Senior Management for approval.Implement new payroll system, with HR Director oversight. This will include setting up new earnings and deductions codes, mapping everything from ADP, working on G/L interface, working with new vendor to write reports, running parallel payrolls with new vendor and general trouble-shooting throughout process. Once conversion is complete, have prime responsibility for maintenance of the system.
Accounting & TaxesHandle all tax issues, including setting up new jurisdictions. Audit tax reports from payroll provider to ensure all taxes are properly remitted, and make sure all corrections are submitted to and handled by payroll provider (i.e. adjustments due to overpayments to employees, etc.)Maintain the G/L interface out of the payroll system.
ReportingCreate and provide reports to accounting departments to allow them to reconcile the G/L Create and provide reports to various departments which allow those departments to understand payroll costs to their operations and the business as a whole.Create and provide HR reports to the Director of Human Resources, such as turnover reports, benefit costs reports, etc. Act as the primary resource for any reporting out of the HR/Payroll system, creating new reports for various departments as required.
MiscellaneousResearch any payroll or tax issues as they develop.Respond to employee questions and concerns regarding their paychecks or other payroll issues.
