Payroll Tax Accountant

The Company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, principally supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center and Sun Mart trade names.  Nash Finch employs nearly 9,000 associates and is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol "NAFC."   We are currently seeking a Payroll Tax Accountant for our corporate headquarters.  The Payroll Tax Accountant performs routine accounting activities to include journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts, in accordance with GAAP, to provide accurate and useful information for management review and decision making for Federal, State, and Local Payroll Taxes.Essential Duties (not inclusive):

-  Assists in preparing financial statements to include monthly balance sheet, income statement and report on changes in financial position/budget variances and maintains related records in the Payroll Department.

-  Maintains general ledger to include preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, account analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly and setting up new accounts.

-  Assists in the preparation of budgets for review by management and used in measuring, planning, and controlling business operations.

-  Assists with reviewing all monthly operating budgets and researches and explains variances.

-  May consult and educate associates and management on financial statements and reports to assist with solving business issues.

-  May review work of lower level accounting staff engaged in general accounting activities.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-  Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field. 

-  Up to 2 years accounting experience.  Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.

-  Good organizational, analytical, and verbal and written communication skills

-  Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

-  Proficient in MS Office (Access, Excel, Word)
