Job Description:

The Retrospective Drug Use Review Department resides within the Clinical Services Department. The Clinical Services Department is the clinical product development team for Walgreens Health Initiatives, Walgreen Co. and Walgreens Health Services business units. This department is comprised of pharmacy professionals responsible for the development and implementation of patient care programs designed to be sold to employers, managed care organizations and the pharmaceutical industry. Our program is an invaluable clinical tool that both protects patients from potential adverse drug events and enhances their quality of care.



Essential Skills:

Main focus is criteria creation, enhancement and documentation of new criteria and versions. Ensure each criteria has all the needed clinical content, appropriate drugs, ICD-9s, CPT-4s and outcomes measures with supporting references. Testing and analysis of new criteria proposals and enhancements to minimize false positives by working and educating clinical pharmacists on how to create new criteria or to enhance existing criteria. Responsible for maintenance of Drug and Disease lists.Compiles issues from reviewing pharmacists on active criteria and updates criteria accordingly.Prepares documents for RDUR Subcommittee and maintains meeting minutes.Monitors for release of package labeling on new drugs for creation of new criteria as well as FDA Medwatch reports for impact on criteria. Works with students, interns and residents on criteria research mini-projects and reports progress/evaluation to their main preceptor. Completion of Prospective Client Modeling. Modest Level of Profile Review.



Qualifications:

BS in Pharmacy required. PharmD preferred; Demonstrated leadership, project management, problem-solving, time management, and medical literature research/analysis skills; Ability to conceptualize and evaluate alternative solutions; Strong verbal and written communication skills appropriate for various audiences (e.g. patients, physicians, benefit administrators, medical directors, non-clinical).
Demonstrates flexibility, works independently, creatively and adapts to a changing healthcare and corporate environment; Ability to develop innovative approaches to clinical products that provide Walgreens Health Initiatives, Walgreen Co. and Walgreens Health Services a competitive industry advantage; Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
