Product Cost Analyst

MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provide prompt and accurate cost estimates to the Parts Sales Department for sales of replacement parts.

JOB FUNCTIONSPrepare and distribute cost estimates for Parts Sales? proposals based on customer requirements consistent with established Parts Cost Estimating Guidelines. Download and analyze system reports and drawings. Consult with pertinent design, manufacturing and sales engineers, as well as with purchasing agents and other costing personnel to compile accurate cost data. Thoroughly document cost estimates in electronic files per departmental guidelines. Documentation should include all downloaded reports, pertinent E-mails, drawings, notated conversations and other documents that support costs, ratios and operational times and rates used in the cost estimates. Present cost estimate data to departmental management and Parts Sales staff for significantly large cost estimates. This data may be presented in meetings and/or via written analyses. Establish and maintain estimated cost log and special cost lists by customer or product type, as deemed helpful in completing consistent cost estimates. These files should be maintained on a shared data drive and made available to other cost estimating personnel.

 Suggest, communicate and implement improvements to Parts Cost Estimating Guidelines and software tools as experiences with particular equipment types and company personnel increases. Communicate and negotiate the underlying changes with the Supervisors-Cost Estimating, as well as with the Corporate Controller, prior to implementation. Analyze and document differences between cost estimates and actual costs for significantly large sold replacement parts. Implement changes to estimating process, as necessary, based on the analysis. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard cost relationships to use in future cost estimates. Maintain proper level of understanding of changing and expanding manufacturing operations for effective evaluation and development of cost estimates.
