Project Accountant – Construction and Development

Well-established and growing Development and Construction company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Project Accountant

 

Job duties include: Performing full-function job cost accounting Reviewing and processing accounts payable Set up committed cost from contracts and purchase orders, including data entry in Timberline Accounting systemMaintain project budgets in coordination with Project Managers, including making necessary corrections to invoice coding, and adding new codes Prepare loan draw package with Project Manager, including owner change orders Enter monthly subcontract invoices into Accounting System; pay subcontract invoices when payment is received; prepare joint checks as necessary Track, in coordination with the Project Assistant and Project Manager, supporting documents required for subcontractor payment (lien releases, insurance certificates, executed subcontract agreements); withhold payments until subcontractors are in compliance Ongoing review and analysis of job cost details for accuracy and consistencyMaintain a database of information on subcontractors? suppliers; contact suppliers as necessary to determine if subcontractors are current with payments Printing checksMaintain a neat and orderly filing system, ensuring information is accessible to others Performing other related activities and duties as assigned

 


Job Requirements:

 Experience ? Two years increasingly responsible recent experience in accounting positions in the construction industry; one year experience as project accountant for a general contractorSolid computer skills with specific knowledge of Excel and MS Word; experience with Timberline is highly preferredAttention to details is absolutely requiredMust have general construction knowledge as it relates to accounting (AIA documents, lien laws, percent complete billing, preliminary notice and lien waiver requirements)Must have good organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage time effectively while handling multiple projects Must work well with others Clear, effective communication skills Ability to give and take direction Ability to work well independently Ability to take a task with minimal direction and complete it Ability to work with others to resolve accounting issuesAbility to foresee and meet challenges effectively Ability to ask questions when something is unclear

 


Compensation:


Compensation will be in the range of $50,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.  Following an initial benefits waiting period, full time employees are also eligible for a complete benefits package including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, matching 401k, and potential annual bonus based on merit.
