Project Accountant/Project Controls Manager

COMPANY BACKGROUND:   $2Billion Fortune 100 manufacturing and service organization with 3 main areas of business including steel, capital gods and services.

 

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

The Company is seeking Project Accountant/Project Controls Manager to act as a liaison between the Accounting and IT groups in the Americas Oracle implementation projects. This position will be responsible for the management of IT project cost and controls and will interface between the IT Project Managers to ensure correct costing and Accounting.  Position reports to the Project Director.

 

GOALS: First Year Goals are:

?  Bridge the gap between Projects and Accounting Department

?  Implement Company Accounting Procedures

?  Documentation Project Controls and Costing procedures

?  Standardize procedures for parent company invoicing

?  Standardization of time and expense reporting across projects ensuring compliance with SOP 98-1 to ensure proper allocation of costs 

?  Implementation of company selected IT governance software

?  Work with Parent Company representatives to standardize Change Management procedures

?  Develop Management Reporting Package

 

Long-term Goals are:

?  Assist in setting up America?s Program Management Office

?  Expand Project Controls Processes and Procedures to all Americas IT Groups

?  Assist in developing corporate-wide project control standards

?  Assist in setting up Global Program Management Office

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:    Provide assistance in project planning that is compliant with corporate standards as well as SOP 98-1 compliance.

 

Generate cost reporting and ensure project controls and cost accounting is compliant with GAAP standards.

 

Work with accounting and payroll to ensure project costs are properly allocated.

Prepare quarterly billing to parent company for global projects.

 

Provide expertise and consultation to Project Managers and team members and assist in the implementation of tools to assist in the automation of accounting and costing processes.

 

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: Successful candidate will likely have a minimum of 5-8 years of recent, successful experience as a Project Accountant, Cost Accountant or Project Controls Manager.  Should have significant experience working as a liaison with IT management, staff and accounting department within large organizations

 

  Must have demonstrated experience with project cost accounting and experience in the documentation of project procedures and methodologies using common reporting tools (Excel, Access, Crystal Reports).

 

Experience with Oracle ERP, Oracle 8.0, SQL Advance, P L SQL, is desirable

Experience with Field Service type organizations is preferred.  Experience with Manufacturing Systems environments is desirable. 

 

Knowledge of MS Project and Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, Access) and Crystal Reports.  Knowledge of IT Governance Tools (Mercury ITG) is preferred.

Must be customer service oriented, self disciplined and adaptable with the ability to multi-task and perform in an interrupt driven environment.

 

Demonstrable problem solving and analytical abilities and project management skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

EDUCATION: Undergraduate Degree in Accounting / Finance/ IT. Graduate work or degree in complementary discipline is desirable.

 

COMPENSATION RANGE: $90,000 to $120,000 base salary with opportunity for up to 20% bonus based on personal and corporate performance.
