Project Accounting Supervisor

Supervises the daily execution of project accounting in order to make timely and accurate payments to vendors and subcontractors. Ensures that owner invoices are entered according to company policy and sound accounting practices. Oversees maintenance of supporting records, ensuring compliance with the company policies and procedures.
JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises Project Accounting Representatives and ensures the quality of their work
Responsible for decisions regarding employment, compensation and disciplinary action of Project Accounting Representatives
Reviews data entered by Project Accounting Representatives for accuracy; informs Project Accounting Representatives of corrections to be made before proceeding with check or invoice processing
Coordinates and performs check printing for all project
Transmits posi-pay and ACH files to banks
Reviews positive pay reports daily and makes an informed decision on any items requiring a pay or reject decision
Audits all checks to ensure accuracy, approvals, sales tax, correct vendor, insurance, NTO releases, warranty and final waivers
Acts as a liaison to vendors and project management in resolving disputes
Assists in audits as necessary
Informs team members of new policies, procedures and technical issues as needed
Trains Project Accounting Representatives on all accounts payable and receivable accounting software packages and upgrades, as required
Seeks ways to improve Enterprise One modules related to project accounting tasks
Prepares special analysis as requested and any other task as assigned by the Project Accounting Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in business/accounting or equivalent combination of training and experience
Advanced understanding of accounting and auditing procedures and techniques used in the processing of accounts payable and receivables in the construction industry
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player
Must be proficient with MS Word and Excel applications
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
