The State and Local Tax Manager is responsible for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. This individual will primarily service clients in the Southeast region. Responsibilities include interacting closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; developing and managing staff; and working closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development, and business development activities. The SALT Manager is responsible for an assigned group of clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-Preparing/reviewing valuations to support real property tax appeals through the use of cost, sales and/or income approaches to value.
-Manage, direct, and monitor multiple client services teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; and manage to budgets.
-Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
-Deliver a full range of State and Local Tax services including tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling client in defending against state audits.
-Develop a project vision and set challenging personal and client service team goals.
-Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively.
-Consult, work with, and service client to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client.
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development.
-Team with partners and senior managers on proposals and business development calls.
-Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services within the assigned group of clients.
-Recruit and retain senior associates and associates.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

Job Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in a business or real estate related field.
-Five to ten years of Real Property Tax experience.
-CMI designation is a plus.
-IPT or IAAO classes towards a designation are desirable.
-Experience at an assessor's office or property appraiser's office a plus.
Public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience is a plus.
-Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills.
-Proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, and combined state tax returns a plus.
-Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
-Practice development experience is a necessary skill set.
-Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
-Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
-Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
