The Rent Accounting Supervisor is responsible to accurately maintain and update information by location in the Rents Payable database with respect to percentage rentals, lease sales breakpoints, and other charges and lease year-end calculations. Coordination and review of lease audits with landlord auditors with respect to percentage rent audits in a primary responsibility of this position. In addition the incumbent is responsible to support the Company?s position with respect to percentage rent audit findings. The Rent Accounting Supervisor is also required to maintain a working relationship with other home office departments and ensure internal communication is maintained. Disbursement of monthly sales reports to respective landlords for each retail location and annual reconciliation of lease year-end sales and percentages of rent paid for each retail location is an important function of this position. Accounting duties include reconciling base rent and other charges (CAM) to the general ledger; including comparative expense analysis to the financial plan and previous year expense levels. The incumbent is also required to ensure proper 1099 reporting to all rent vendors, support the growth and development of personnel under supervision, to ensure that employees comply with Company policies and resolve personnel issues and conflicts. Supervision of a Rents Payable Staff of 4 full-time employees is a primary requirement of the position.

The incumbent is responsible for accountability in the following areas:

-Accountability to management for timely and accurate disbursements under the Company?s contractual lease obligations, thereby ensuring no disruption in the store operations which could arise as a result of lease defaults.

-Accountability to landlords for timely and accurate reporting for lease sales, annual lease reconciliation, and discharging the Company?s financial lease obligations.

-Accountability to financial accounting to accurately report rent expenses and related charges in the Company?s financial reporting system.

-Accountability to maintain efficiencies throughout all areas of responsibility, streamlining and automating procedures where appropriate.

Interested candidates must possess the following qualifications:

-Advance training and proficiency in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access

-A four-year degree or equivalent experience with ownership of all landlord payments in a retail environment ? over 1,200 locations

-Account reconciliation experience

-Experience with lease database ? "RetailLease" preferred

-Excellent customer service skills

-Strong Attention to Detail

-Previous Supervisory experience preferred but not required
