Restaurant Accountant

Description:

Performs accounting tasks in support of multiple concepts and multiple units for our restaurant concept client. Prepares, examines, and analyzes a variety of financial statements and reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. An exempt position requiring comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts, practices and procedures. A fully qualified professional, the incumbent applies concepts in performing both routine and advanced accounting functions to solve problems as they arise. May require creative application to unique situations. Works under general supervision and errors cause delay, expense, and/or disruption.

REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares and analyzes financial statements and monthly reports.

Reviews and analyzes restaurant unit projections vs. actual performance. Provides explanation/corrections for any variances.

Prepares and analyzes monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

Reviews and maintains general ledger accounts.
Prepares, reviews, assists with, and/or approves journal entries, general ledger accounts and transactions, travel requirements, payroll, expense reports, time reports and invoices.
Generates reports to analyze margin trends.

Maintains appropriate records for area(s) of responsibility.

Assists with audits by providing records and supporting schedules.

Interacts with staff and customers to research and resolve problems.

Responds to questions or requests for information from VP's, project managers,unit level manager, or other internal staff on a regular basis.

Recommends solutions for improving accounting processes.

Writes and reviews internal procedures.

Completes additional projects as assigned.

 

Education and Typical Years of Experience:

BS/BA degree finance/accounting.

3-5 years related experience.

 

Operates PC and uses software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets and/or databases. (Lawson, Excel, Word, Access)
