Senior Accountant/Accountant III (Ameriton)

Archstone-Smith is one of the nation's leading owners, operators, developers and acquirers of apartments in major metropolitan areas across the country. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare financial information in accordance with regulatory or other requirements, as required to meet internal and/or external reporting needs;
Prepare and/or reviews financial information for internal and external auditors;
Prepare reconciliations for more subjective and/or complex accounting activity;
Assist manager in identifying opportunities for process improvement;
Communicate with external auditors and assist in the audit coordination process;
Research accounting discrepancies and determine appropriate corrections;
Research and respond to more involved customer inquiries;
Interpret and analyze financial results for reasonableness;
Prepare periodic reporting calendar;
Prepare and record journal entries for non-routine accounting activity;
Participate and contribute to special project teams including various ad hoc accounting assignments;
Assist in the development and documentation of Accounting control procedures;
Maintain financial systems setups and report layouts including financial spreadsheet models;
Communicate financial policies and procedures to field operations staff;

Qualified candidates will have 3 to 5 years of related experience. Candidates will also have the following skills:
 

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field from four year college or university;
Basic MS Word skills;
Intermediate Excel skills;
Basic PeopleSoft or related ERP software skills;
CPA a plus.
Hair follicle drug testing and criminal background check required.
