Senior Accountant - Healthcare

POSITION PURPOSE: 



Under the supervision of the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for preparing the journal entries, reconciliations and analyses of general ledger amounts, financial statements, and related schedules of his/her assigned entities.  This position is involved in the preparation of schedules for the annual budget, five-year financial plan, and the financial audit where applicable.



NATURE AND SCOPE:

The major challenges of this position are to work with his/her customers in response to financial issues; determine the source of problems and establish controls and monitoring systems that ensure accurate record keeping; to effectively institute change as directed; to operate within the time pressure of deadlines; and to respond to customers in a timely and effective manner.  Other related duties and overtime may be required.



It is common to encounter potential hazards in the health care environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress. Washoe Medical Center has a Safety Management Program in place addressing these issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university, or related equivalent experience. Health care experience is desirable.  Requires the ability to read, speak, and write English.



Experience: Minimum of three years of general accounting experience.
