Senior Accountant - Timber Hill Europe

Overall Description:

 

Senior Accountant ? Timber Hill Europe, is a member of 4-accountant team that is responsible for reporting Daily Trading results and related cash movements for Timber Hill Europe AG (THE), which operates in the securities markets of approx. 20 European and Asian countries.  In addition, to daily accounting and reporting, THE Accounting is responsible for month-end financial closings, including, preparation of internal and external financial reporting packages and assisting THE?s Accounting Manager in support of the year-end audit and on ad hoc projects throughout the year.

 

This position is located at the IBG headquarters office in Greenwich, Connecticut.  Note that daily

operations are run from offices in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Australia.  THE Accounting has

recurring direct contact with the operational staff in these offices..

 

 

Qualified candidates will have in-depth knowledge of:

 

? U.S. GAAP Financial Accounting and Reporting

? P&L and Balance Sheet Accounting and Reporting for Securities, F/X and Commodities

? Financial Statement Analysis

? Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Receivable/Payable and Fixed Asset Accounting

? Analysis and Documentation of Internal Accounting Controls and Procedures

 

Other Responsibilities:

? Preparation/Review/Analysis of monthly financial statements and related footnotes

? Prepare intercompany transaction postings and balance analysis

? Documentation of Controls and Procedures

 

Qualifications:

? 4+ plus years experience in a Financial Accounting role

? Bachelor?s degree in Accounting (GPA ? 3.0 or higher)

? Certified Public Accountant (Audit/Assurance) a plus

 

Other Specific Skills & Knowledge:

? Proficiency in the operation and use of automated accounting systems.  Recent experience with Oracle Financials (ver. 11.5.9) a plus

? Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including complex/compound spreadsheets

? Ability to evaluate and document current procedures and offer improvement suggestions

? Problem solving skills

? Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently within a team environment

? Knowledge of international financial markets a plus
