Senior Accountant, to $65k plus bonus

Our client, a leading international producer and marketer of consumer products in the Loop, is seeking a growth-oriented Senior Accountant to join their team. 

 

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Overall responsibilities of this position incorporate two major areas of focus within the Finance Team: support for the consolidated reporting & analysis of the financial results of operations and the ongoing coordination of the Sarbanes-Oxley initiative. Position provides broad exposure to many areas within the organization.

1.  Compiles consolidated P&L financial results. Analyzes results of operations to ensure that data is accurate and properly reported to customers. This individual ensures that the financial results are correctly consolidated on a GAAP basis.

2.  Additional reporting responsibilities include ensuring that the results are submitted in a timely and accurate manner, subsequent to the completion of each month end close as well as communicating with various users of this information to explain trends or variations from expectations and provide additional detail as necessary.

3.  Serve as the internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley subject matter expert within the Finance Team. Acts as the liaison between the corporate audit group and process owners. Drive the process for employee education relating to financial controls and expectations for compliance.

4.  This person will assist the Director of Financial Services in various projects received from the CFO and the Controller, including research of accounting related developments and recommendation of proper accounting and disclosure treatment for various transactions and developments as they occur.

5.  Prepares account analysis and reconciles General Ledger account activity, as required. Coordinates within the accounting team to effectively assist in the control of the general ledger and ensure issues or discrepancies are resolved on a timely basis.

6.  Analyze and assess internal control risks and improvement opportunities. Continually monitor and update the assessment of the control environment. Identify and document gaps existing in controls over financial reporting.

7.  Aid management in determining remediation steps for internal control deficiencies. Ensure that remediation actions are enacted in a timely manner for all noted control deficiencies.

8.  Facilitate compliance with parent company mandated requirements involving disclosures and management representations for both Sarbanes-Oxley and external reporting requirements.

Requirements

4-year college degree in Accounting. ...CPA or sections of the CPA completed....At least one year of accounting experience in a Public Accounting Firm required. ...Minimum 3 years experience in General Accounting or Audit environment. ...Familiarity with COSO and Sarbanes-Oxley....Technical proficiencies in Word, Excel and Powerpoint. ...Experience in mining data and creating reports outlining financial results and trends to create executive summaries....Knowledge of JD Edwards or ERP software experience.......
