Senior Accounting/Technical Analyst

 

Responsibilities:

 

?  Asset Sales and Retirements: Determine the appropriate rate making and accounting treatment for the sale of company plant assets and major plant asset retirements. Lead cross-department asset sales meetings with Law, Corporate Real Estate, and Revenue Requirements to ensure sales related capital accounting information is appropriately presented in regulatory filings, and is recorded timely and accurately for financial and regulatory reporting purposes. Communicate timely and effectively the status of sales and major retirements and their potential financial impacts.

 

?  Participate in the month-end closing process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses on sales related items.

 

?  Research and Analysis: Analyze and coordinate the resolution of complex capital accounting issues. This responsibility includes leading and coordinating projects and working with cross-functional teams to ensure that operational, financial, accounting, ratemaking, and tax aspects are considered and effectively analyzed. Demonstrate solid communication and teamwork skills throughout the process.

 

?  Assist in other projects as requested by the supervisor and manager.

 

Essential/Required:

?  At least 3-5 years of solid accounting experience

?  Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics or related field, or equivalent experience

?  Proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools, including Excel, Word and Access

?  GAAP knowledge and research skills

?  Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

Marginal/Desired:

?  Utility industry experience

?  CPA/CMA/MBA

?  Proficiency in SAP

?  Regulatory accounting knowledge and research skills
