Senior Accounts Receivable Associate (Billing / Collections)

A leading electrical, structured cabling and building technologies integrator seeks a senior Accounting Associate for Billing / Collections. Client seeks someone who can think on their feet and work independently, with ability to make discretionary decisions regularly.

 

The company offers a single-source for design, installation and continuous maintenance of integrated building technology solutions.  The company has brought its expertise in electrical and low voltage systems to numerous notable buildings here and out of state. In order to maintain industry leadership, the company has been expanding services to such fields as: structured communication cabling, audio/visual, electronic security, wireless LAN/WAN, network services, VoIP Telephony and managed service.

 

You will be responsible for all accounts receivable administrative functions and soft collections, including contacting delinquent accounts, billings, reviewing account histories with customers, posting payments, credit memos and adjustments.  Assisting with other accounting functions as required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Build and maintain relationships with clients to ensure prompt payments are made. Contact customers in regards to past-due balances to comply with company's established policy. Answer accounts receivable and customer billing inquiries.  Research and process customer's billing/invoice disputes, including issuance of credit memos.  Ensure timely follow up on collection issues, including conferring with customers on account history, reviewing contract terms, etc.  All collections are business-to-business, not all projects require liens.Soft Collections (You will call and make sure they got the invoice, answer any questions, request payment date, etc.)  Collections are done on a "project team,? usually working on no more than 2 projects.  Review and post receipts and payments to appropriate database as directed.  Assure that all monthly communication and billings are processed in a timely manner.Handle associated collection calls in order to collect past due accounts receivable on an ongoing basis.Perform month-end accounts receivable closing procedures are required.  Assist with related special projects as needed. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

 

EDUCATIONAL and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting function.  Accounting degree preferred or equivalent combinations of experience and training in accounts receivable, billings and collections, preferably in a construction environment.  Computer related skills:  MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Software is proprietary--will train. Prefer experience with variety in billing applications. You must clear a credit check, background check, initial and subsequent random drug testing
