Senior Financial Analyst - Global Accounting

This position will provide direct support to the Global Accounting Manager position which consists of addressing global queries, reviewing tax packages, Intercompany settlement and review of reconciliations.  This position is responsible for ensuring MHE inter-company accounts are reconciled in an accurate, informative and timely manner including the timely resolution of reconciling items.  Also, this position is accountable for establishing policies and procedures for inter-company accounts that ensure efficiency, effectiveness and proper controls over inter-company usage.   Principal Accountabilities: Responsible for reviewing and documenting the processes and controls surrounding the global manual Intercompany accounts.Responsible for the policies and procedures for inter-company usage.Responsible for migrating the existing manual intercompany accounts to the new automated process.Responsible for supervising one Global Accountant position.Ensure that all reconciling items on the MHE Intercompany Inventory and Expense Reconciliations are accurate and cleared on a timely basis.Also responsible for assisting in the review of all intercompany reconciliations prepared by the Global Accounting Department.Support the Non-Lawson subsidiaries migration onto Lawson.Assists Global Accounting with various projects as they arise.Write new and/or update old procedures relating to work processes as needed.

 
College degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred.
 
Technical accounting knowledge to analyze and resolve issues.
 
In depth knowledge of Lawson system preferred.
 
Good written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel.
 
Ability to work independently and be assertive in follow up to resolve issues.  Responsible for adhering to deadlines related to projects and monthly accounting close.
 
Strong working knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
 
Supervising experience preferred.
