Senior Financial Analyst - Planning

Position Summary:   Reports to Manager of Financial & Capital Planning and provides financial support for operational departments and merchant organization, as well as executive management. Provides performance reporting and ad hoc analyses, including recommendations to improve the business.  This position requires strong spreadsheet skills and strong communication skills.  It is a high profile position with significant exposure to senior management.

 

Responsibilities may include:

 

Merchant Planning Process (semi-annual process)

? Prepares merchandise guidelines used by Merchant Planning organization for planning sales, gross margin and inventory levels.

? Analyzes merchant plans and communicates findings to management.

? Participates in merchant planning meetings, providing feedback on submitted merchant plans.

? Provides analysis/guidance to distribution centers regarding receipts, Average Unit Retail, etc.

 

Capital Planning Process

? Reports capital spending, forecasting and variance analysis accurately and timely.

? Plan, forecast and report depreciation/amortization.

? Assist in establishing Capital Budgeting Priorities through ROI analysis and complete post profitability analysis after project completion.

 

Expense Planning Process (semi-annual process)

? Prepares and/or analyzes operational expense budgets for various departments, identifying opportunities, risks and other issues.

? Prepares several complex store-related budgets including gross margin, vacation, payroll taxes, and allocation of corporate expenses to stores.

? Participates in implementation of PeopleSoft Budgeting Module.

 

Rolling Operating Forecast (weekly)

? Prepares, coordinates submissions, and analyzes departmental expense forecast variances from plan.

? Reports findings to CFO for review at weekly executive committee meeting.

 

Other

? Completes ad hoc analyses as assigned.

? Prepares weekly and monthly reports for distribution to merchant organization and senior management.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

-  BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (CPA and/or MBA a plus)

-  3 ? 6 years experience in finance and/or accounting

-  Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products w/ an emphasis in Excel and Access

-  Ability to handle multiple priorities

-  Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

-  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

-  Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus
