SALARY RANGE:  $5,284.93-$7,229.73 per month, plus excellent benefit package, including 2.7% @55

  PERS Retirement, employee contributes.  Position is subject to 2% salary increase

  effective January 1, 2007.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general direction, plans, organizes, conducts and directs complex audits of departmental, fiscal or operational activities. Acts in a lead capacity over audit and clerical staff. Evaluates operation and management systems and prepares audit reports with recommendations based on findings.  Conducts financial, operational and compliance audits of any department, function, operation or program assigned. Plans audit procedures and assigns segments of audits to assistants and conducts audit program. Determines scope of and approach to audits in consultation with management. Leads in the examination of records to determine accuracy of data and effectiveness of procedures and internal controls.  Documents findings and prepares audit and special reports.  Discusses audits with responsible officials concerning accounting and management problems and other details of the audit.  Writes draft and final audit reports.  Prepares financial statements.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination equivalent to a minimum of four (4) years of professional-level audit or accounting experience preferably in government assistance programs environment, which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities listed and a Bachelor?s degree with specialization in accounting, business or a related field. Possession of a valid certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor and/ or a Certified Fraud Examiner is highly desired. Must possess a valid California driver?s license.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURES:

The best-qualified applicants will be invited to the testing process, which may include any combination of oral interview, written examination, experience evaluation, or other reliable means.  Applicants must pass all phases of the testing process and receive a minimum rating of 80% to qualify for placement on the certified eligibility list.
