Senior General Ledger Accountant

Job Summary:  Primary responsibilities of the Senior General Ledger Accountant are to ensure the month end close is timely for specific entities and ensure that the balances with the entities are properly supported, ensure accounting procedures are compliant with policy, and perform scheduled accounting tasks and special project work as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager of General Ledger Accounting.



 

Job Responsibilities and areas of understanding:

 

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and will require knowledge of each of the areas of understanding.  The responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

 Responsibilities:

 

a)  Ensure all month end general ledger balances are properly supported with reconciliations and roll-forward schedules as appropriate.

b)  Ensure that strict deadlines surrounding the month end close are met and continue to look for ways of streamlining the process. 

c)  Track all corporate development activity. 

d)  Responsible for InterGen (HK) legal entity accounting.

e)  Prepare statutory account for Corporate Development entities.

f)  Comply with internal control procedures implemented for general ledger maintenance.

g)  Track intercompany position and help clear positions through coordination with Project Controllers and Treasury.

h)  Act as the back-up to the Payroll Supervisor in the processing of bi-weekly payroll.

i)  Provide accounting and system support to the Business Units and Projects as needed.

j)  Perform or assist with special project work, as requested.

k)  Help resolve accounting issues.

l)  Help with legal entity liquidations.

m) Help identify US GAAP related issues.

n)  Research and resolve audit related inquires.

 

 

Areas of understanding:

 

a)  US GAAP

b)  Internal Controls as they relate to the general ledger functions

c)  General ledger system (JD Edwards)

d)  Crystal Reports

 

  Qualifications:

Certificate/License: 

Undergraduate degree in Accounting.

Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Pre-requisites and experience
Approximately four years accounting experience.
