Primary day to day accounting resource to the mall management team and the assigned Corporate Accounting Manager. The Senior Mall Accountant will assume additional accounting responsibilities under the direction of the assigned corporate Accounting Manager which includes maintenance of the general ledger, compliance with month end and year end corporate schedules for closing the books and production of various accounting and financial reports for 1 or 2 properties, depending on the mall size, complexity, and location. Will be supported by and supervise an Associate Mall Accountant at the base mall and may be supported by an Associate Mall Accountant or Mall Accountant at one other group mall.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Senior Mall Accountant maintains the general ledger and prepare timely financial statement packages and supplemental schedules per the requirements of the Corporate Accounting Department.
- Senior Mall Accountant prepares lease abstracts for all leases and amendments and coordinate and review all billing revisions and data base maintenance for accuracy.
- Senior Mall Accountant assists the assigned corporate Accounting Manager with inquiries and special accounting projects.
- Senior Mall Accountant prepares monthly NOI variance reports and provide narrative explanations in accordance with Corporate Accounting policies and procedures.
- Senior Mall Accountant prepares year-end audit schedules and assist in auditor inquiries as required by the Corporate Accounting.
- Senior Mall Accountant supervises the activities and training of a non-exempt Associate Mall Accountant at the base mall and an Associate Mall Accountant or Mall Accountant at one other group mall.
- Senior Mall Accountant maintains the responsibilities of the Mall Accountant position at the Base Mall and one other group mall.

Required Skills:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.
- 6+ years of accounting experience required/ 6+ years of real estate accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements related to real estate accounting.
- High degree of computer skills, with Intermediate skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Windows 2000.
- Ability to use and instruct others in the navigation of Web based accounting applications, with prior experience using JD Edwards and/or DYNA software highly desired.
- Required: Working knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Computer literacy with substantial knowledge of financial spreadsheet software.
- Ability to prepare and analyze detailed financial statements and interpret same for mall management team.
- Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Preferred: Knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements related to real estate accounting.
- High degree of computer skills, with Intermediate skills in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Windows 2000.
- Ability to use and instruct others in the navigation of Web based accounting applications.
- Ability to effectively communicate accounting and financial analysis to non-financial mall management teams and corporate management.
- 0-1 year of supervisory experience required. 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
