Senior Real Estate Accountant

Seeking a Senior Accountant to support the activities of a group of real estate professionals with offices located in Massachusetts, California, and the Washington Metro area.  The group pursues an opportunistic strategy within commercial real estate to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns.  The group invests on a national basis and across all real estate classes.

 

Typically provides transactional support to a deal team after closing such as financial reporting, disbursement statements, and investment return calculations.  Individuals at this level are in the process of expanding their real estate skills. Responsible for a variety of client and transactional activities. Will handle certain aspects of a customer relationship with manager input.

 

Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant will work in a team environment collaborating closely with deal team members following the closing of mezzanine and equity loan investment opportunities and will maintain a continuing role in the performance monitoring of active individual investments and well as fund reporting and financial statement preparation.  The individual?s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  Produce required monthly, quarterly, and year-end internal management financial statements and external investor reports, including balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow statements at the investment property level and portfolio level Prepare work papers and work with  internal and external auditors and tax accountants throughout the fiscal year process, and remain current on all tax compliance and rules Provides accurate, monthly feed to Investran Prepare, process and reconcile journal entries; compile and issue revenue and expense updates Reconcile inter company activity and accounts Perform daily cash and related reporting, and manage cash position to ensure that needs are properly funded Prepare bank reconciliations for deposit and disbursement accounts Provide support to originators, underwriters, accounting group and clients in carrying out loan tasks Other projects and assignments as may be identified or requested by fund manager Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in real estate, accounting or finance. CPA desired. Four  to six years of real estate and / or banking  experience required. Experience in real estate acquisition, construction, and development a plus. Fund reporting experience with limited partnerships and REITS helpful. Ability to prepare accurate and appropriate financial statements and distribution statements

Salary/Pay Rate: 75K+
