Senior Supervising Accountant

Major Duties and Functions Include:
This position is responsible for the preparation and review of Schedule Ds, exhibits, and RBC for MetLife and its affiliated companies. This information is prepared and submitted to the REPORTING Group for filing of the quarterly and annual statements.

Principal responsibilities are:
Reconcile Schedule D to company's Peoplesoft General Ledger to ensure that amounts reported for each investment account are accurate.
Prepare statutory adjustment entries for unrealized gain/loss and unrealized gain/loss on foreign exchange and book the amounts to the applicable general ledger accounts.
Maintain record keeping of securities held on deposit in the various states and ensure that securities are replaced when matured.
Provide investment information to the Tax Dept., Law Dept, and internal/external auditors.
Respond to state examiners regarding statutory variance. What You Need to Succeed:


Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
3-5 years accounting experience
Requires complete knowledge of accounting theory and practices, financial reporting systems, and rules from various regulatory agencies.
Knowledge of the securities industry
Ability to research, analyze, resolve, and document financial data
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize functions, and meet deadlines
Must be able to work as part of a team
Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows applications including Excel and Word
