Settlement Accountant

The Sallie Mae Bank is looking for a Settlement Accountant for our Murray, Utah office.  This position supports the Accounting department in providing fiscal controls related to Bank operations. Primary responsibilities include reconciling, reporting, and recording the daily settlement activity related to debit card deposit accounts.  In addition, this position will track daily loan origination activity, perform various general ledger reconciliations, and ensure the department complies with Bank record retention guidelines. Additional duties include monitoring and reporting on: correspondent bank performance, investment and deposit interest rates, bank service charges, and compliance with funds transfer regulations.

 

Minimum requirements include 1-2 years general accounting experience including reconciliations and general ledger entries. An undergraduate degree is also required.  General knowledge and/or experience with debit/credit card transaction settlement processes and prior banking and/or financial services experience preferred.
