Sr. Accountant - General Ledger

Currently we are seeking a Sr. Accountant for our General Ledger Group in our El Segundo, CA office.  This individual will be responsible for the following:

 Play a key role in the timely and efficient management of the close process on a monthly basis.  Specific duties include preparing and distributing the monthly close timelines, posting and tracking journal entries made after month-end cut-off dates, working with the various departments impacting the close process to ensure that the necessary tasks are completed in a timely manner, and validating files to ensure that SAP data agrees to Financial Reporting?s records.  Will be required to prepare and update policies and procedures pertaining to areas of responsibility.

 

Other duties include:

 Preparing journal entries and third party settlements for Advanced Products and Telco partnerships, account reconciliations, annual tax schedules, and schedules required for DIRECTV?s external auditors and internal departments.  Additionally, this position will also provide assistance on various monthly/quarterly variance analyses and support to management on an as-needed basis.

 

Qualifications include:

 Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum 4+ years accounting experience in a large-scale accounting/finance environment.  Public accounting experience or CPA license preferred.  Strong background with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and ability to create/maintain complex Excel spreadsheets required.  Experience with accounting/financial systems (SAP preferred) and reporting/data warehousing tools (BW and Cognos preferred) and a working knowledge of accounting is also required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, outstanding problem solving skills, and strong analytical skills required.  Experience with SAP month-end close preferred. Individual must be a team player, customer focused, results oriented, and a self-starter with strong analytical skills and the ability to look at the big picture while being attentive to detail. Also requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle a heavy workload, juggle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work in fast-paced environment.
