Sr Accounting Manager

Manage general accounting functions, including general ledger, financial statement, accounting systems, taxes, payroll, accounts receivable, product pricing, product master files, account analysis, and non-wholesale accounting (retail, culinary, concerts, etc.)
Accurate and timely financial reporting of financial activity in accordance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, company policy, ensuring that monthly and quarterly management reporting is relevant, accurate and supportable, and is prepared & distributed on a timely basis.
Accurate and timely processing of all GL transactions and the coordination of monthly accounting close process, ensuring that transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and company policy, working closely with Controller and accounting staff.
Oversee multi-state payroll function (interface with Ceridian and Ultimate Software).
Oversee accounts receivable process.
Ensure all tax payments and calculations are reconciled between accounting GL records and Ceridian payroll tax records. Work with state agencies and IRS.
Manage accurate and timely preparation, payment and reporting of all retail-related transactions (includes retail shops, wine clubs, events/catering)
Oversee all SMWE product pricing (including pricing calendars, price change requests, state price postings) and ensure accounting systems reflect accurate pricing.
Oversee maintenance of all product item master and associated product codes
Supervise staff of seven (including: Manager, Sr. Staff Accountants, Payroll Specialists, A/R and Pricing).


Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Accounting (MBA is helpful)
CPA
5+ years accounting experience, preferably in a food processing or consumer goods industry
4+ years experience in an accounting management/leadership position
4+ years experience with payroll, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory role
Working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Expert proficiency with MS Excel and proficiency with automated accounting systems.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage teams effectively
Strong analytical skills with proven years experience in resolving complex accounting issues to ensure accurate financial statement analysis
Strong and proactive verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex accounting issues to business stakeholders and management
