Sr Analyst-Finance

Description:
- Assist in the monthly preparation of internal management reports, completion of ad hoc financial requests, and overall review of key performance measures affecting the company's financial and operational results.
- Assist in the monthly analysis of corporate and regional performance results including explanation of variances of actual results to targets (e.g. budget, best view, forecast).
- Assist in running queries and performing ad hoc analyses based on data sourced from the company's general ledger system and the data warehouse.
- Responsible for a suite of critical financial and performance metric reports delivered during and at the end of each month end financial close.
- Assist in the development of standardized reporting requirements for Verizon Wireless across all organizations and Areas.
- Responsible for all aspects of the Hyperion system maintenance including: chart of accounts, data interfaces & loads, report creation & changes, and user security & training. Identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Assist in developing presentations for CFO and senior executives.
- This position may be assigned projects, which cover other functional areas of Finance and other departments within the company.
- Assist with new projects and initiatives as directed by management.

Qualifications:
General:
- Candidate must be able to network with others to accomplish daily tasks.
- Candidate will be expected to complete tasks independently and make decisions and recommendations that comply with management reporting guidelines to ensure the financial integrity of VZW financial statements.
- Candidate must be highly motivated, a self-starter, with good PC skills, solid communication skills, and demonstrated leadership qualities.

Specific:
- Minimum 3 years experience and practical exposure in some of the following roles: Financial Planning and Analysis, Customer Finance, Financial Accounting and Control
- Bachelor's Degree with an Accounting or Finance concentration, MBA / CPA preferred
- Familiarity or working knowledge of Essbase preferred
- Experience with financial systems, Peoplesoft G/L preferred
- Experience with reporting systems, Hyperion Reports/Analyzer and Cognos PowerPlay preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, familiarity with MS Office Suite and Adobe
- Proven ability to take large amounts of multi-faceted data and create insightful and meaningful information to be used in business decision making
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deliver results by critical deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and understanding of cellular industry trends and key business drivers preferred
- Wireless experience preferred
