Sr. Financial Analyst / Asst Controller

L-3 Communications, Aerospace Electronics (AED) is a Division of the Sensors and Simulation Group within L-3 Communications Corporation.  AED performs advanced research and development in key technology areas, such as digital signal processing, embedded processor software, electromagnetics and antennas. We are solving the most challenging electronic communications, countermeasures and surveillance problems that the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Agencies will be facing in the future. AED specializes in the transformation of unique technological innovations into major system integration and weapon system production opportunities, such as the Navy?s WSQ-9 submarine sonar system.

 

Job Functions:Key member of the Finance & Accounting team supporting the Division Controller.Assists the Controller in directing the Division?s accounting functions to include:  establishing and maintaining the Division?s accounting principles, practices, and procedures; overseeing the preparation and evaluation of budgets and other financial operating reports; and presenting findings and recommendations to top management.Compiles and analyzes financial information.  Develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports and presentations.Creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately.Identifies trends and developments and presents findings to senior management.Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts.  Reports to the Controller.

 

Requirements:BS in Finance or Accounting plus 5+ years specialized experience in performing such duties as cost analysis; developing annual budgets for direct cost, overhead and G&A; and developing forward pricing rates and incurred costs for submission to DCAA.Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs).Understanding of revenue recognition, profitability, unbilled and billed receivables, and program EAC?s.Skill in using Costpoint accounting software.Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, to attend to details, prioritize many tasks, and to work under time constraints.Skill in using Microsoft applications.Knowledge of Hyperion software desirable.
