Compass Bank is currently seeking an experienced Risk Advisor to provide analytical support in our Risk Management department in our corporate headquarters in downtown Birmingham, Alabama.

 

Responsibilities: Provide risk-management support to the Retail Lending divisions, lending support groups, and/or other risk managers assigned to that group to build key indicator and monitoring tools. These divisions include all consumer lending production areas such as Mortgage Banking, Small Business Banking, Direct Consumer lending, Indirect Auto Lending, and the various supporting functions such as Bankcard, Loan Operations, and Collection/Recovery. 

 

Proactively develop business partnerships with clients by understanding their goals and deliverables, key processes, technologies, and area of potential risk. Analyze systems and controls producing comprehensive risk management assessments and recommendations.  Ensure the control environment is rated satisfactory or better by regulators and other external examiners.  Work with other corporate Risk Management trams (Finance, Capital Markets, Retail Banking and Deposits, etc) as necessary on special reviews, bank due diligence, etc.  Work with the Corporate Security group and Loss Prevention group as necessary on internal investigations. 

 

Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree with accounting or finance emphasis.  A minimum of five years audit or risk management experience with broad knowledge of banking; in-depth knowledge of retail lending and supporting functions; ability to lead projects of cross-department teams.  Will consider Retail Lending experience in lieu of audit/risk management experience.  Also, requires excellent communication and facilitation skills.  A working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and ACL (or other data mining tools) required.  Professional certification as a CPA, CRP, CBA, or CIA preferred.
