Sr. Strategic Pricing Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing support for and at times leading the development and implementation pricing and yield management policies, programs and strategies. Advises and supports all stakeholders in the deployment of pricing programs, price structures, selling guidelines, and other initiatives aimed at improving overall company profitability. Initiatives may be multi-national, cross-functional, and across Business Units. Sets Published Rates and discount guidelines for sales channel partners to be used in setting rates for individual customers; provides analysis and approval of specific rates outside of guidelines. Designs and develops tools, models, and reports to support Sales and Pricing. Gathers data in order to determine effectiveness and profitability of pricing strategies and tactics. Identifies opportunities for improving pricing and profitability of existing accounts. Follows industry developments and competitor pricing strategies that may affect pricing structures, and provides tactical and strategic responses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Analyzes and recommends appropriate pricing for DHL products and services by conducting market analysis, competitor analysis, profitability analysis, and revenue simulations. Analyzes and recommends appropriate pricing for DHL products and services for specific customers by defining guidelines and performing profitability and market analysis. Analyzes shipment volume and revenue to determine effectiveness and profitability of pricing strategies. Forecasts volume and revenue to use in financial and operational planning activities. Initiates profitability reports and develops plans to increase profitability and maximize yield. Analyzes competitor pricing and makes recommendations regarding ways to improve DHL pricing, profitability and market penetration. At higher levels, may provide functional guidance, advice and/or training to less-experienced pricing professionals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Seasoned professional with the ability to act as a consultant to management on major matters pertaining to pricing policies, plans, and objectives. Expert knowledge of Excel and financial modeling. Strong presentation skills. Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline and 4-6 years experience in related field or MS/MA and generally 2-4 years experience in related field.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to work well under pressure independently, performs and manages multiple tasks simultaneously, and meets deadlines.

2. Ability to operate various pieces of office equipment including, but not limited to: computer, keyboard, mouse, ten-key calculator, copier and phones, as required by position.

3. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods to perform work.

4. As required by position, Be able to travel for short or extended periods of time (approx. 15%) to other DHL business locations, vendors and other business related destinations both domestic and internationally.

5. Ability to remain current on business, market and technological trends affecting DHL's business.
