Primary responsibilities include:
Analysis and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts.
Ensure that transactions updating general ledger accounts are accurate, valid and complete.
Manage assigned general ledger accounts and ensure that they have been updated in compliance with internal policies and that the balances, in aggregate, are stated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Participate in monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities.
Perform assigned duties in a timely manner and in accordance with closing schedules, and ensure that schedules prepared are accurate and complete.

The position may be required to prepare financial analysis for senior managers of the accounting department and / or internal customers. Participate in special projects or other department initiatives.


Major Job Responsibilities: In order of importance the major duties and responsibilities and percentage (decimal equivalent) of work allocated to each duty.
40% Responsible for all aspects of fixed asset accounting. Duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining Oracle fixed asset sub-ledger, reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger, prepare fixed asset roll-forward analysis, and analyze fixed asset additions to ensure proper accounting in compliance with internal policies and procedures and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Ensure that asset retirements are identified and that the fixed asset sub-ledger is appropriately updated in a timely manner. Provide reporting schedules and requested fixed asset analysis to all internal customers. Ensure that asset descriptions maintained in the sub-ledger are descriptive enough to allow for easy and quick identification in subsequent inquiries or during periodic fixed asset audits.
10% Maintain intangible asset schedules. Reconcile activity and prepare periodic roll-forward schedules.
20% Work with external and internal auditors. Provide information, financial analysis and other data, as requested.
10% Responsible for tracking and analyzing prepaid asset accounts on the U.S. company ledgers (company 01, 50 and 66). Maintain schedules and prepare adjusting journal entries, as required.
10% Upload journal entries from business controllers. Review entries to ensure that accounting appears reasonable and that there is proper documentation attached to support the entry.
10% Special projects, other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Knowledge/Skills required for the Position:
Intermediate technical accounting skills. Understanding of basic accounting principles and ability to analyze account activity and prepare basic account reconciliations.
Ability to understand and execute financial processes. Identify potential internal control weaknesses and recommend improvements, as appropriate.
Previous experience with all types of PC applications (excel, word and other business applications). Oracle or other major ERP system experience preferred but not required.

Education Required: BS degree in accounting.

Experience Required: 3 to 5 years of previous accounting / auditing experience in a private or public accounting environment.
