Staff Accountant - General Ledger

Because leisure travel is all we do, NLG is able to provide our customers with the best value in cruises and vacations. NLG sells direct to consumers through a portfolio of leading brands that the company owns or licenses including Vacation Outlet, CruisesOnly, 1-800-CRUISES, Cruises.com, Orbitz, Yahoo!, priceline.com, BJ’s, AAdvantage Cruise™, and many others.Primary FunctionThis Staff Accountant position will be a key contributor to the monthly close process, with a specific focus on the timely reconciliation, tracking, analyzing and reporting of the company’s marketing spend, co-op reimbursements, car rental and timeshare programs.  As part of these processes, this person will act as the key finance liasion with the company’s brand managers and product managers ensuring all of these programs are reported accurately in the company’s financial statements.  This person will ultimately be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of journal entries, balance sheet account reconcilations and monthly analyses in support of these programs, and will provide ad hoc financial support and analyses to management. 

Key Responsibilities: Tracking, processing, reconciling and reporting of the company’s marketing spend for all brands and all marketing vehicles, including all monthly close entries, working closely with each Brand Manager to ensure all Marketing activities are appropriately accounted for and approved. Tracking, reconciling and reporting of the company’s co-op reimbursement programs with all of our vendors, working closely with the Product group to ensure that all contracts are received and co-op is appropriately recognized in accordance with each individual contract. Timely and accurate invoicing of the company’s timeshare program, including reconciliation of invoice amount to system reports, all required follow up with timeshare partner ensuring payment is made within terms and preparation of required journal entries. Tracking and recording of barter transactions, working with marketing team to ensure all barter is accounted for and accurately reported. Tracking, processing, reconciling and reporting of the company’s car rental program, including all monthly close entries. 

Job Requirements:


Qualifications  BS Degree with Accounting or Finance concentration and 5+ years directly related experience in GL accounting.  Strong analytical mindset, detail orientation, and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions; the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be flexible enough to handle a variety of responsibilities and projects.

Great Plains and FRX Reporting a plus!
